Honey Scotch Bonnet Wings by Yanikie Turner

Give your hot wings a kick with our Smilin Island Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauce!  The sauce is fiery and slightly sweet for the palate of Scotch Bonnet pepper lovers.  Try it with this delicious hot wing recipe by celebrity chef, Yanickie Turner of @jamdownfoodie! 

Honey Scotch Bonnet Wings 


  • 3 lbs chicken wings (halved and tips removed)
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons chicken seasoning (Maggi)
  • 1 teaspoon all purpose seasoning (Maggi)
  • 2 egg whites beaten


  • 2 cups flour
  • ¼ cup seasoned panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon chicken seasoning 
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Vegetable or Canola oil for frying 
  • 1 whole scotch bonnet pepper (halved)


  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons Smilin Island Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauce 


  1. Season chicken with powdered seasonings and allow it to marinate for 2-3 hours. 
  2. Combine dredge ingredients and set aside. 
  3. Beat egg whites and pour over chicken just before flouring. 
  4. Heat oil to 360 degrees fahrenheit. Add whole scotch bonnet to flavor oil. 
  5. Flour chicken wings and set them on a plate. 
  6. Fry wings until cooked through and golden. 
  7. Combine all of the sauce ingredients on low heat until they are well combined. 
  8. Toss wings in sauce, garnish with green onions and serve hot.
